Bring On the Bronze: Warm, Glowing Winter Containers for the Holidays

When December arrives, so do the winter containers. What I love most about these pots is the way they bring life and a bit of magic to your home just as the world has gone cold and gray. As a change from the classic red holiday look, bronze has become a favorite in our winter pots. It is warm and earthy, with a soft glow that feels so welcoming at the front door. This color story lends an elevated, elegant look to winter containers without ever feeling too traditional or overdone.
How to Get This Look:
The base:
Start with an evergreen base in a mix of hues and textures. For this container we used noble fir, Carolina sapphire cypress, cedar, and juniper. The key is weaving magnolia leaves throughout so their warm foliage complements the bronze accents and pulls everything together.
Natural Decor:
To keep the container feeling organic, we layer in natural elements like pine cones, lotus pods, and tallow berries. They add texture and gently tone down the shine of the ornaments.
Metallic accoutrements
Now for the fun part. We sprinkle in assorted metallic accents in a range of bronze tones for just a bit of sparkle. We like to use ornaments, but we also tuck in different berries, glitzy stems, leaves, and whatever other interesting pieces we can find. The key is to not overdo, and we always add a touch of another shade, like silver or white, so the bronze elements really pop.
Branches for drama
For the final touch, we add birch branches to give the container height and a little bit of drama.
